These Terms of Use apply to your use of Sporting Ledger, a mobile application provided by Riverslaney Technologies.

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, installing the app, or using Sporting Ledger, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What Sporting Ledger is

Sporting Ledger is a privacy-focused, offline-first personal shooting diary for individual users in Ireland and the United Kingdom. It helps you record information such as firearms, ammunition, places, shooting entries, activities, species, rounds fired, notes, photos and reports.

Sporting Ledger is designed for personal record-keeping only.

2. What Sporting Ledger is not

Sporting Ledger is not:

  • a statutory register;
  • a police return;
  • a BASC, NGO, government or official record;
  • a legal compliance system;
  • legal, licensing, firearms, wildlife, land, estate, insurance or professional advice;
  • a guarantee that your records satisfy any legal duty.

You remain solely responsible for understanding and complying with all laws, certificate conditions, land permissions, quarry rules, seasons, reporting duties and other obligations that apply to you.

3. Eligibility and lawful use

You may use Sporting Ledger only if you are legally permitted to engage in the activities you record and to possess or use any relevant firearm, shotgun, ammunition or equipment.

You must not use Sporting Ledger to plan, encourage, record, conceal or support unlawful activity. You must not upload or store content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, exploitative, defamatory, invasive of privacy, or otherwise harmful.

4. Your account

You may need to create an account using an email address and password. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

You must provide accurate information and keep your account email up to date. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@riverslaney.com.

5. Where your log is kept

Sporting Ledger is offline-first. Your log is stored on your phone. You may choose to:

  • keep your log on this phone only; or
  • save a copy to your account.

If you keep your log on this phone only, your log is not saved to your account. If the phone is lost, damaged, wiped, replaced, or the app is deleted, your phone-only data may be permanently lost.

If you choose to save a copy to your account, your log is copied to online storage so it can be recovered on another phone after sign-in.

6. Data loss and best efforts service

Sporting Ledger is provided on a best efforts basis. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the service and your data, but no app, device, network, cloud provider, storage system or security measure is perfect.

You acknowledge that bad things may still happen, including device failure, user error, app defects, network problems, cloud service disruption, account compromise, accidental deletion, data corruption or other loss.

You should not rely on Sporting Ledger as your only copy of any record that is legally, financially or personally important.

7. Photos, locations and sensitive records

Sporting Ledger may allow you to store photos, precise locations, firearm and ammunition details, shooting activity, species information, tags and notes. You are responsible for the content you enter and for ensuring that you have the right to store it.

Do not enter information that you are not comfortable storing on your phone or, if online saving is enabled, in your account.

8. Privacy and data protection

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and delete personal data. It is available at:

https://riverslaney.com/sportingledger/privacy

Sporting Ledger is designed with GDPR and UK GDPR obligations in mind, including privacy-focused defaults, user control, phone-only mode, optional diagnostic reports, and in-app account deletion. However, these Terms do not replace the Privacy Policy.

9. Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app by going to Account → Delete account, entering your password and confirming that you understand deletion cannot be undone.

Account deletion is intended to remove your sign-in, live online copy and data on the phone. Some limited residual information may remain temporarily in diagnostic logs, operational logs or backups as described in the Privacy Policy.

If in-app deletion fails, for example because you are offline or a very large account times out, contact support@riverslaney.com or privacy@riverslaney.com.

10. Intellectual property

Sporting Ledger, the app design, branding, text, icons, software and related materials are owned by Riverslaney Technologies or its licensors. You may use the app for your own personal purposes only. You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, scrape, interfere with or misuse the app except as permitted by law.

You retain ownership of the content you enter into your log. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the app, provide online saving if enabled, secure the service, troubleshoot issues, and comply with law.

11. Third-party services

Sporting Ledger may use third-party services including Amazon Web Services for authentication, storage, APIs and operational logs. Map tiles may be requested from OpenStreetMap or related tile providers when you view maps. Device geocoding may use services provided by the device operating system. Those third parties may process limited data as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to the app or Terms

We may update Sporting Ledger, add or remove features, change technical providers, or update these Terms. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example in the app or on our website.

13. Suspension or termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Sporting Ledger if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, misused the service, created security risk, or used the app unlawfully.

You may stop using the app at any time and may delete your account in the app.

14. Disclaimers

Sporting Ledger is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device, legally sufficient for your circumstances, or free from data loss.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riverslaney Technologies will not be liable for indirect, consequential, special, punitive or exemplary loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, loss of data, loss caused by your legal non-compliance, or loss arising from reliance on Sporting Ledger as an official or legally sufficient record.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, unless mandatory consumer law in your country gives you additional rights. The courts of Ireland will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
